PRE-REQUISITE:  Intermediate Handgun and Holster Draw series

Advanced Handgun II: Developing Consistent Marksmanship And Moving With A Handgun - This class builds upon the skills obtained in Advanced Handgun I by placing the emphasis on movement and tactics. The proper identification and cover, concealment and movement within a residence will be introduced. Marksmanship and speed through efficient handgun manipulation will be taught through a series of demonstrations, drills and refinement.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Advanced Handgun I

What to bring: your handgun, holster, at least (3) magazines, 250 rounds of ammo, two speed loaders (for revolvers) or 1 for all other handguns, range gear, eye and ear protection and appropriate, comfortable attire. A brimmed ballcap is recommended but not required.

The Basic Handgun Course is the foundation for all shooting sports. The student will learn about safety, funtionality, operations and proper transport of the firearm. The range portion will allow the student to fire a .22 caliber pistol and a 9mm pistol. Everything required is provided.  Please wear a long sleeved crew neck shirt and proper footwear. Do NOT bring any firearms to class. No FID card is required for this class.

Basic Shotgun is an introduction to the basic function, operation and marksmanship with the shotgun and will provide the student with basic information on how a shotgun works, ballistics and patterning and how shotguns are safely and effectively operated in defensive environments. The student will learn how to properly load and unload the shotgun and how to operate the shotgun safely and tactically in stressful situations. The student will fire their shotgun for accuracy and pattern. The foundations of shotgun tactics and self-defense are provided in this class.

What to bring: your shotgun, 10 slugs, 10 rounds of buckshot and 20 rounds of birdshot. Based upon shotshell availability, shooters may bring 30 rounds of any sized "shot" (bird/buck) in addition to the 10 slugs. Bring your eye and ear protection, range gear, wear appropriate and comfortable attire with a closed shoe.

Prerequisites: Must have taken Holster Draw II to be able to draw fromt he holster. Must have taken Intermediate II or better to be able to draw from the bench.

Can You Pass the Test? This is a really fun monthly challenge to determine whether or not you could pass that state's Law Enforcement Qualification test. There will be a different states test every month.

The first portion of the class will be practicing the test while the instructor calls out the commands, then it is all up to you to see whether you have what it takes to pass the test!

Please bring a handgun (registered to you and preferably not a revolver), at least 100 rounds of ammunition, at least (2) magazines, eye and ear protection and proper range attire.

CCW Fast Track Training Session I

Prerequisite: Advanced Basic Handgun or the equivalent. Must have and bring your own handgun

This is the first of two intensive training sessions to get you prepared to take the CCW Qualification.

The first 3-hours will concentrate on Intermediate handgun skills while the last hour will be an introduction to holster draw. You will be asked to practice dry fire skills at home to prepare for the next session.

Please Bring: your handgun (no revolvers please), an outside of the waistband holster, non-collapsible, (no shoulder holsters) at least 200 rounds of ammunition, (3) magazines, eye and ear protection, and proper range attire.

CCW Fast Track Training Session II

Prerequisite: CCW Fast Track Training Session I or the equivalent

This is the second of two Fast Track training sessions for those who seek to get their CCW license.

The first hour will revisit intermediate skills and the last 3-hours will concentrate on holster draw and CCW qualification practice. After successfully completing this training, you should be ready to take your CCW qualification.

Please Bring: your handgun (no revolvers please), an outside of the waistband holster, non-collapsible, (no shoulder holsters) at least 200 rounds of ammunition, (3) magazines, eye and ear protection, and proper range attire.

PRE-REQUISITES: 

NEW QUALIFIERS:  In order to participate in this CCW Qualification session, the participant must have attended the Intermediate Handgun class series AND Holster Draw class series and possess a valid Nj Firearms ID Card or out of state Carry Permit.  It is strongly recommended that they have completed the Advanced Handgun class series. 

CCW HOLDERS FROM OTHER RANGES:  If you already possess a CCW from another facility and a Re-Qualifying, we will honor that certification from another CCW Training facility, provided you attend either our Holster Draw II or III.

REPEAT QUALIFIERS:  If you have obtained your CCW Certification from us and have NOT been to the range since you last qualification you will be required to take either Holster Draw II or III.

Please DO NOT sign up for this session if you do not possess the pre-requisites, skills and attendance in classes.

This is the training session that either qualifies or re-qualified students (CCW Permit holders) to submit an application to their local police department or state police barracks for their Concealed Carry Permit.  This is for both the new CCW applicant and or the current CCW Permit holder who needs to update their training qualifications.  This qualfication session includes the current and mandatory safe handling and use, legal requirements, use of force and range qualifcation session, mandated in N.J.S. 2C:58-4.  Students are expected to have skillsets that will enable them to safely load, reload, unload, draw and hit 40 out of 50 rounds at distances from the 3 to 15 yard line. The live-fire portion of the class is not a training session, safety violations will not be tolerated. Please review the course of fire, the CCARES memo and the CCARES life-fire training requirements found on the NJSP Firearms webpage.   

EQUIPEMENT:  Students should bring their own handgun, an outside the waistband holster to be worn at 3 o'clock (right-handed) or 9 o'clock (left-handed), wear a sturdy belt, at least 3 magazines, at least 50 rounds of ammunition, eye and ear protection (electronic ear muffs to hear range commands are strongly recommended) and a garment that cover the handgun and holster.  Upon successful completion students will be issued the proper form and certificates for attachment to their Permit To Carry application.

A member of PBA 147 (Somerville PD) created these challenge coins for the TTC, $2 from every coin will go directly to PBA 147.

The coin is a 2" coin, beautifully done. The front shows an eagle with a rifle in its talons, adorned with 13 stars and the words "2A Shall not be infringed" in script. The back has the TTC logo with the words "It's not just a privilege, it's a right". 

An absolutely beautiful coin for collectors or gun enthusiasts!

 

 PRE-REQUISITES: HOLSTER DRAW AND ADVANCED HANDGUN SERIES.

The High Intensity Training and Skills (HITS) classes 1 hour in duration and are a series of training classes created for the advanced handgun operators.

H.I.T.S. Accuracy & Manipulations -  Participants must have the highly advanced skill level to participate in the HITS series. Students should have a reasonable standard of physical fitness, possess and be familiar with a tactical duty belt/holster, please your handgun, (3) magazines for each firearm, at least 100 rounds of ammunition, eye and ear protection. Please wear comfortable clothing and appropriate footwear for a physically active training session.

PRE-REQUISITES: HOLSTER DRAW AND ADVANCED SERIES.

H.I.T.S. Holster Draw & Rapid Fire: Participants must possess the advanced skills to take this class. The student should have a reasonable standard of physical fitness, utilize a tactical duty belt/holster, bring (3) magazines, a handgun, at least 100 rounds of ammunition and bring your range safety gear including eye and ear protection. Please wear comfortable clothing and proper footwear for a physically active training session.  The class 1 hour in duration.

This class is for the striker fired type of handgun, such as Glocks, Smith & Wesson M&Ps, H&K VP9, Walther PDPs, Sig Sauer P320 and some hammer fired guns, such as Sig P226, P228 & P229. If you are unsure of the type you have, please call 908.782.9000 and we will assist you.

Bring you handgun, an old towel, any cleaning supplies you may have. Our instructor will guide you through the disassembly, cleaning and re-assembly process. Need cleaning supplies???? You get 15% off of all cleaning products immediately before and after the class!

One firearm per class. Please, no live ammo!

HANDGUN SKILLS/DRILLS WINTER ATTIRE:  This is an advanced skills training.

PRE-REQUISITES:  Holster draw CCW Prep and Advanced Handgun series.

Please Bring: A handgun, an outside of the waistband holster, 3 magazines, 150 rounds of ammunition. Range safety gear, a crew-neck long sleeved shirt, athletic shoes or boots.

Must also bring your winter attire: hat, gloves, jacket etc. 

This is a CCW Qualification practice session.

You must have completed Holster Draw training I & II or the CCW Fast Track training session II or the equivalent. This session will get you prepared to take the CCW for the first time or to requalify.

Please Bring: Your handgun, holster (outside of the waistband, non-collapsible), (3) magazines, 200 rounds of ammunition, eye and ear protection.

Handgun Skills & Drills: Off Hand Shooting & Non-Dominant Eye

Prerequisite: Holster Draw II or the equivalent

This class will really test your accuracy while preparing you to be able to shoot under less than ideal situations.

Please Bring: Your handgun, (3) magazines, your outside the waistband non-collapsible holster, 150 rounds of ammunition, eye and ear protection and appropriate range attire.

HANDGUN SKILLS/DRILLS RED DOT:  This is an "open skill and drill" night oriented towards handgun movement skills.  There will be a variety of unique drills designed to enhance your movement skills.  

PRE-REQUISITES:  Holster draw CCW Prep, Advanced Handgun series.  The student must have a CCW. It is highly recommended that the student have attended the CCW Classes.  

EQUIPMENT: A handgun equipped with Red Dot Dight, OUTSIDE THE WAISTBAND holster to be worn at 3 O'clock, 3 magazines, 150 rounds of ammunition. Range safety gear, a crew-neck long sleeved shirt, athletic shoes or boots.  A garment that conceals the handgun such as a jacket, pull-over sweatshirt, flannel shirt or lightweight shirt such as a Columbia, Patagonia, etc.

Instinctive Point Shooting I

Prerequisite: Advanced Handgun or the equivalent

This is an advanced skills training class that will have you shooting without the use of optics or iron sights but by your natural ability to point.

Please Bring: Your handgun, an outside of the waistband, non-collapsible holster, at least 200 rounds of ammunition, (3) magazines, eye and ear protection and proper range attire.

Instinctive Point Shooting II

Prerequisite: Instinctive Point Shooting I

This is an advanced skill level class which has you relying solely on your natural ability to point without the use of optics or iron sights.

Please Bring: your handgun, an outside of the waistband, non-collapsible holster, at least 200 rounds of ammunition, (3) magazines, eye and ear protection and proper range attire.

 

 

Prerequisite: TTC Basic Handgun Course or the equivalent. 

Please note that Intermediate Handgun is a three part series. There is an Intermediate Handgun I and II, and III.  We try to schedule these classes consecutively or consecutive days of the week.

Intermediate Handgun I is for the recent Basic Handgun graduate and is primarily hands-on.  The fundamental concept of this class is to establish safety skills, learn how the handgun functions and the prevention of operator induced malfunctions.  The class also includes instruction on basic marksmanship. This class occurs primarily on the range.  

If you are a NJ resident you must have a NJ Firearms ID card. New Jersey students should own a handgun registered to them and bring it to class. If you reside out of state, you must bring in your own handgun (we can provide compliant magazines). Holsters are not necessary for this class.  Please bring or purchase 100 rounds of ammunition, eye and ear protection, wear a long sleeved crew neck shirt and closed toe athletic shoes or boots.  Please do not wear sandals or open-toed shoes.  Electronic hearing protection is highly recommended.

PRE-REQUISITES:  Basic handgun or equivalent training.

Intermediate Handgun II:  The second part of the Intermediate Handgun series reinforces the skill sets previously introduced.  Emphasis is on the elimination of operator induced malfunctions by demonstration, coaching, dry-fire and live-fire drills through proper loading, unloading and reloading.  The class also emphasizes and incorporates the elements of proper marksmanship.

Please bring your own handgun, 100 rounds of ammo, eye and ear protection, wear a long sleeve crew neck shirt and a closed shoe.

Please note that Intermediate Handgun is a three part series. There is an Intermediate Handgun I, II & III.  We try to schedule these classes consecutively or consecutive days of the week.

What to bring: your handgun, 200 rounds of ammo, (3) magazines, either a handheld flashlight or a weapon mounted light, eye and ear protection, appropriate range clothing like a crew neck long sleeved shirt and either a boot or athletic shoe.

Prerequisite: Intermediate Handgun II or the equivalent

PREREQUISITE:  MUST possess your CCW license. Must have taken Holster Draw and Advanced Handgun or the equivalent.

Practical Concealed Carry I: This is an advanced skills class for those who have their CCW license.

Please Bring: a handgun, (3) magazines, a speed loader, 150 rounds of ammunition, a concealment-type holster that is outside of the waistband (NO shoulder holsters, no collapsible inside the waistband, no cross draw holsters), eye and ear protection. Please bring different attire, hoodies, coats etc as you will be changing/adding layers as well as shooting from different holster positions.

This advanced training is for those who have their CCW.

Prerequisite: Must possess your CCW license and have had holster draw training as well as Advanced Handgun or the equivalent.

Practical Concealed Carry II: Please bring your handgun, at least 150 rounds of ammunition, an outside of the waistband holster (NO shoulder holsters, no collapsible inside the waistband, no cross draw holsters), eye and ear protection. Please wear an outer shirt like a flannel or windbreaker but bring additional layers of clothing, hoodies, coats etc, and appropriate footwear.

Real Life Home Scenarios with Cindy & Tom:

Have you ever thought about how you would react when something goes bump in the night and you have reason to suspect someone may be in your home or trying to break in? There is not a lot of time to think but you must keep your composure as you reach for your firearm, magazines and ammunition. Are they easily accessible? In this class, you will practice drills to get you prepared for this and other real-life scenarios. You will get training from the perspective of a civilian trainer as well as  from a former law enforcement and  Sgt Major.

This class is for the intermediate student. Please bring your handgun (must be registered to you), at least (2) magazines, eye and ear protection and 150 rounds of ammunition.

Please also bring the case that you would be storing your handgun in beside your bed at your home.

 

NJSP - RPO / H.R. 218. Federal (H.R. 218) and NJ State law permits retired police officers to carry firearms. This course of fire and Use of Force review satisfies both the H.R. 218 and NJSP RPO requirements.  This course covers the day and night qualification courses (HQC -60 rds & HNQC - 40 rds). Please bring the firearms you wish to qualify with, 100 rounds of ammo per firearm (if you need ammo you can purchase at the TTC), a flashlight, a gun-mounted light (optional but available for purchase at the TTC). Eye and ear protection and proper range attire required.

PLEASE NOTE THIS IS ONLY FOR RETIRED LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS - IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH A CITIZEN WANTING TO GET THEIR CCW. ALL  ATTENDEES MUST BRING THEIR RETIRED OFFICER CREDENTIALS.

This is a fun shoot open to anyone who has taken Intermediate Handgun 2 or the equivalent. You will be shooting actual, full sized bowling pins so be sure to bring a handgun that is 9mm or larger. Please bring 50 rounds of ammunition, eye and ear protection, appropriate range clothing and footwear (a closed shoe and a crew neck type of shirt) and of course your game face!!!

This is a friendly, timed competition.

PRE-REQUISITE:   HOLSTER DRAW

This is a class just for VIP members and it does not count towards your allotted classes.  The class is oriented towards intermediate and experienced shooters.  The class typically consists of shooting drills oriented to a specific skill set.  Please bring your own handgun, holster, at least 2 spare magazines, 200 rounds of ammo, eye/ear protection, range compatible clothing.  Electronic hearing protection is HIGHLY recommended.

Youth Intro to Firearms

This class is for all 13-17 year olds who want to learn firearm safety, operation and fun of the shooting sports. This class is a must if there are firearms in the home. Parents are more than welcome to stay and watch the class. Everything needed will be included.
