COURSE OVERVIEW
Innovative tactics and simple user-friendly techniques are the benchmark of this course. This course is designed for individual officers who are assigned to the role of how to respond to an active shooter(s)/mass killings, assassinations and ambushes. This course emphasizes immediate deployment/rapid intervention techniques and pre-planning for these events. Topics to be covered include a historical overview of active shooter situations including school shootings, immediate deployment/rapid intervention tactics, counter-ambush and counter-assassination identification and concepts, officer/subject down concepts, and prevention concepts. Classroom training will provide foundation concepts, dry fire drills will augment and flatten the tactical learning curve, flat range firearms training will enhance and verify necessary skill sets.
This course is a series of 4 classes, that do not neccessarily have to be taken in order.
Class #1: Historical significance of related events. safety and tactical operations, classroom and flat range training, minimal acceptable standards.
Class #2: Identifying tactical solutions and planning operations. Interior space tactics. Flat range drills and augmentation, minimal acceptable standards.
Class #3: Outside space incidents, counter ambush tactics, flat range drills and augmentation. Minimal acceptable standards.
Class #4: Assassination prevention and engagement, officer down/subject down tactics. Flat range drills and augmentation. Minimal acceptable standards.
Equipement: Handgun and duty holster, body armor, eye and ear protection, range appropriate clothing to include a ball cap. Handheld flashlight. 250-300 rds of ammunition.
